I first contacted Kings Car Rental on WhatsApp, and at first it seemed a bit strict with many terms and a 2-day minimum rental. But their point person later reached out and was really professional and friendly. He delivered the car right to my hotel in KK city centre, even added a big umbrella since it was raining. I got a Perodua Myvi 1.3L — clean and efficient, though quite old (almost 300,000 km) and without Bluetooth or USB. For 290 RM for 2 days, I would’ve preferred a newer car, but it was still reliable for my drive up to Kundasang. . Payment was easy - cash on the spot, no deposit, just showed my passport. Drop-off was seamless too. Great service overall, would recommend. Note - You need to install local parking app to park in KK between 8 am and 5 pm

I had a satisifying experience renting a car here. The staffs were very responsive, they did not charge extra fee for departure and pickup point and the time is flexible too. I communicated with Mr Fizal throughout the time and he was very communicative, kind and punctual with the time. Our car was indeed a bit old but we had no issue with the performance. I booked a Perodua Myvi the evening before I landed in Kota Kinabalu to drive up to Mount Kinabalu National Park. I paid a deposit via bank transfer and then paid the balance in cash when I arrived. Although our flight was delayed, Eddy from Kings kept in touch and was waiting for us when we arrived. The car was an automatic and in pristine condition. Eddy took details of my drivers licence etc and the balance payment at the airport. The car was easy to drive and powerful enough to easily handle the steep climb up the roads to Mount Kinabalu. When we returned to Kota Kinabalu, we parked the car near the hotel and then contacted Eddy. He turned up to collect the car within 15 minutes and after a quick check over confirmed everything as fine with the car. You return the car within the same level of petrol as you receive it, so everything is very straight forward. In the T&Cs it says you can only drive the car within the town area of KK, but this is a bad translation. What they actually mean is that you can drive it within the district, so a trip to Kundasang is fine. There is no mileage limit within the district. Overall, I would recommend this rental company to others. Eddy was also great to deal with, as he is friendly, communicates well and is very efficient.
